3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/3/19

Baseball is heating up, and there are plenty of DFS contests to choose from on FanDuel's main slate. While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to avoid sub-optimal options who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three players to consider fading on FanDuel's main slate for June 3.

Eduardo Escobar, Arizona Diamondbacks (3B)

vs Los Angeles Dodgers
FanDuel Price: $3,800

With a microscopic three-game main slate, it's hard to pick through fades -- it feels like everyone should be in play. One that you should be careful rostering is Eduardo Escobar of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Rostering lefties against ace Walker Buehler may seem like a good bet at first, but a deep dive reveals how tough he's been on batters with the platoon advantage. So far this season, Buehler has held them to a .275 wOBA and 33.3% fly-ball rate.

He's already smacked his way to 15 home runs, but it's unlikely he will add to the total tonight.

Cody Bellinger, Los Angeles Dodgers (OF)

at Arizona Diamondbacks
FanDuel Price: $4,700

There are only six hitters priced at or above $4,000, and superstar Cody Bellinger is certainly one to get a ton of attention. He's already slammed his way to 20 home runs, and his seven steals are nothing to ignore, either.

Dating back to the start of the 2018 season, lefty hitters like Bellinger have stood no chance against Diamondbacks starter Robbie Ray. He's limited same-sided bats to only a .225 wOBA, including a 32.8% strikeout rate. and a 30.0% fly-ball rate.

If you're looking to pay up for a stud hitter, steer away from Bellinger.

Hunter Renfroe, San Diego Padres (OF)

vs Philadelphia Phillies
FanDuel Price: $3,300

It may have been a challenging start to the 2019 season for Aaron Nola, but he's ramped things up as of late -- since April 25th, the Philadelphia Phillies ace has recorded a 2.49 ERA over 39 2/3 innings pitched, without recording a single loss in that time span.

He's been particularly tough on same-sided hitters -- so far this season, they've recorded a .289 wOBA, 25.3% strikeout rate, and 23.3% fly-ball rate.

The most expensive bat in the San Diego Padres lineup belongs to Hunter Renfroe, who bombed three homers over the weekend and now has 17 on the year. He's been great this year, but it may be a tough game for him this evening against Nola.
