3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/31/19

Baseball is heating up, and there are plenty of DFS contests to choose from on FanDuel's main slate. While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to avoid sub-optimal options who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three players to consider fading on FanDuel's main slate for May 3.

Nick Senzel, Cincinnati Reds (OF)

vs Washington Nationals
FanDuel Price: $3,800

Nick Senzel of the Cincinnati Reds has provided a nice jolt to the lineup, and the rookie has done his fair share of living up to the tremendous hype -- a 10.0% walk rate, .343 wOBA, and a gorgeous four-homer, five steal combo platter.

But his matchup gets increasingly difficult tonight against Patrick Corbin, who has been brilliant this season. Over 54 1/3 innings against righties in 2019, Corbin owns a .272 wOBA, 33.6% hard-hit rate, and 24.5% strikeout rate.

There could be some runs scored in tonight's contest, but righties may have their hands full.

Marcell Ozuna, St. Louis Cardinals (OF)

vs Chicago Cubs
FanDuel Price: $4,200

Marcell Ozuna has been absolutely mashing in 2019 -- he has nearly 16 home runs and a cool .859 OPS, and he's been a big part of the middle of the St. Louis Cardinals order.

Facing the divisional rival Chicago Cubs and Yu Darvish could limit his power. Darvish has been sparkling as of late, and he's been especially difficult to righties with a 28.5% hard-hit rate, 30.6% fly-ball rate, and 28.6% strikeout rate.

The Cardinals have been pretty poor so far in May and today's cap to the month could be another long day.

Rhys Hoskins, Philadelphia Phillies (1B)

at Los Angeles Dodgers
FanDuel Price: $4,300

The power drought has ended for Rhys Hoskins, as he has smashed two more home runs in the last week to get his hitting stroke on track. Can he keep that form up?

It may not be likely on the road against Kenta Maeda, one of the toughest same-sided arms in the league. In 2019 alone, Maeda has limited hitters in this split to a 29.3% strikeout rate, including a microscopic 22.7% hard-hit rate.

Hoskins is usually an easy play to lock-and-load, but consider some other options at first base tonight.
