FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Friday 8/31/18

After failing to produce earlier in the week, Giancarlo Stanton finally knocked one out of the park on Thursday. Can he do it again tonight in an appealing spot against Jordan Zimmermann?

We end the week with our usual 15-game Friday slate, which gives us plenty of offensive options, including a hot one in Arlington for the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins, along with plus matchups for the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals. Some big names top the potential pitching options, with Luis Severino looking like the top choice despite some shaky performances this summer.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Luis Severino ($10,600 on FanDuel): We may have Corey Kluber ($11,500) against the Tampa Bay Rays tonight, but with just a 24.6% strikeout rate on the year and a 21.4% strikeout rate since the All-Star break, that's an awfully tough price to stomach these days. That leaves us with Luis Severino, who has lost some of his luster from earlier in the season but still has a potent 3.28 SIERA, 28.2% strikeout rate, and 6.1% walk rate. Following a rough July and a tough outing against the Boston Red Sox to start the month of August, Severino has looked more like himself over the last four starts, posting a 3.48 FIP and 32.3% strikeout rate in spite of a less than stellar 4.57 ERA. But just as importantly, he draws a fantastic matchup against the Detroit Tigers, who own the second-worst wRC+ against righties (78), leading to a slate-low 2.88 implied team total. Severino has been harder to trust lately, but this looks like one spot we can use him with confidence.
