FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Friday 8/24/18
We may not have any true aces taking the mound on Friday, but with 14 games going tonight, you can bet there are some appealing matchups we can exploit on the mound. On the hitting front, the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies will be doing their thing at Coors Field, while the potent offenses of the Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, and Washington Nationals also see plus matchups.
Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.
On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.
Pitchers to Target
Mike Foltynewicz ($10,500 on FanDuel): This may be a steep price to pay for Mike Foltynewicz, but he holds both the best SIERA (3.68) and strikeout rate (28.2%) on tonight's board, and draws an ideal matchup against the Miami Marlins. These Marlins don't necessarily give much of a boost in punchouts, but between their 84 wRC+ against righties and pitcher-friendly Marlins Park, they're only showing a 3.24 implied team total. Facing the same team for the second time in three games isn't necessarily a plus, but Foltynewicz passed with flying colors the last time, fanning seven over eight innings while allowing just one earned run. His 9.4% walk rate is the only major concern here, but that's mitigated by the Marlins' bottom-barrel 7.0% walk rate versus right-handers.
