FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Thursday 7/26/18

With right-hander Bartolo Colon taking the mound for the Rangers, it might be Matt Olson's time to shine on Thursday night. Who else should we invest in on a nine-game main slate?

With Stephen Strasburg coming off the pitching board and hitting the disabled list today, we're left with a whole bunch of scraps to choose between on Thursday's main slate. On the bright side, this isn't a bad spot to pay down at pitcher, with some tantalizing offenses to choose from. The Yankees, Athletics, Red Sox, and Rangers all exceed a five-run implied team total.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

Sonny Gray ($7,800 on FanDuel): You know it's a weird night when Sonny Gray's name pops up as an option, but here we are. Rich Hill is arguably the most talented arm on the board, but between a poor matchup against the Atlanta Braves and the quick trigger Dave Roberts has with his starters, and it will be tough to pay $9,000 on a hitting-rich slate. Gray has hardly been a reliable starter for the Yankees this year, but he's posted encouraging numbers since the beginning of June, with a 3.98 FIP, 24.2% strikeout rate, 7.2% walk rate, and 50.6% ground-ball rate. He's coming off two straight strong outings against the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets, and while those may not be the strongest opponents, he has a similar matchup tonight versus the Kansas City Royals. The Royals aren't known for handing out punchouts, but they have a paltry 82 wRC+ versus righties with one of tonight's lowest implied team totals (3.70). Gray is also a massive favorite behind a strong Yankees lineup against Jake Junis. It's not perfect, but Gray may not have to be on this thin slate.
