FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Tuesday 7/24/18

Heading into Coors Field, the Houston Astros are expected to pile up the runs tonight. Who else deserves your attention on Tuesday's main slate?

We have another jam-packed slate on Tuesday, and while it may not have quite the same level of star pitching power as yesterday -- at least in terms of name value -- we still have some formidable arms to choose from. On the offensive side, Coors Field makes its triumphant return with the Houston Astros in town, and another scorcher in Arlington gives the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers a boost. The St. Louis Cardinals also draw a welcoming spot against the appropriately named Homer Bailey.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Zack Wheeler ($9,000 on FanDuel): On a slate with Aaron Nola and Gerrit Cole, it might seem funny to see Zack Wheeler listed here, but Nola faces a tough Los Angeles Dodgers offense, while Cole is getting the Coors Field treatment. On the other hand, Wheeler draws the whiff-happy San Diego Padres (26.0% strikeout rate versus righties), who Jacob deGrom tallied 10 punchouts against on Monday. Wheeler has solid -- if unspectacular -- numbers on the year, but he's displayed an uptick in velocity since late May. It didn't pay immediate dividends, but over his last six starts he's now posted a 3.16 FIP, 26.9% strikeout rate, and 20.2% hard-hit rate. Wheeler is more expensive than we would like, but he still checks in below the night's other top arms, and the matchup is right for a ceiling game.
