3 MLB Prop Bets to Target on 6/28/18

With four hits and two home runs over the last three games, will Christian Yelich stay hot tonight in Cincinnati?

Prop betting odds can be useful in daily fantasy sports to help gauge the potential performance of a player on any given night in the MLB. Likewise, the same principles can be applied in the opposite direction -- by using our fantasy projections and models to help make more informed prop bets.

Using the odds available at Bovada Sportsbook, here are three prop bets available tonight that are good plays based on our daily MLB game projections.

Please note that Vegas lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.

Los Angeles Angels at Boston Red Sox

Brian Johnson OVER 3 Strikeouts (-105)

The Boston Red Sox are being forced to look to the bullpen to start Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Angels with Steven Wright going on the disabled list. Left-hander Brian Johnson is on the mound, and our models think that he could produce a solid outing compared to his prop odds.

Johnson had one start this season back on April 2 where he went six innings and struck out five batters. He owns a respactable 21.2% strikeout rate this season, and with the Angels only posting a .304 wOBA against left-handed pitching, our models think Johnson can produce 5.32 strikeouts over 5.9 innings of work.

Mookie Betts OVER 2.5 Runs, Hits, and RBI (-130)

Like most nights where the Red Sox are playing, our models are very high on Mookie Betts' prospects against Jaime Barria and the Angels on Thursday.

Betts is slowly returning to form after coming off the disabled list. He has collected three or more runs, hits, and RBI in three of his last five games. Betts owns a .446 wOBA and .322 isolated power against right-handed pitching this season, and tonight our models like him for 3.3 runs, hits, and RBI.

Milwaukee Brewers at Cincinnati Reds

Christian Yelich OVER 2.5 Runs, Hits, and RBI (+120)

There are several Milwaukee Brewers hitters our models like tonight against the Cincinnati Reds and Anthony DeSclafani, but the one hitter with the most enticing odds at Bovada is Christian Yelich.

Yelich has hit right-handed pitching hard this season with a 46.1% hard hit rate, .377 wOBA and .203 isolated power over 217 plate appearances. For Thursday, our models project Yelich for 2.97 runs, hits, and RBI. The return is just too nice to pass up.
