4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 5/15/18
The Phillies are in a mouth-watering spot against Andrew Cashner. Which other offenses should you target?

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks.

Philadelphia Phillies

Andrew Cashner appears to have rebounded from a 2017 campaign that saw him post a 5.52 SIERA. His 2018 strikeout rate has nearly doubled from 12.2% to 20.1%. However, a closer examination reveals this may actually be a mirage as his swinging-strike rate is stuck at a paltry 6.8%.

Cashner has also struggled with walks (10.6% walk rate) and contact management (41.8% fly-ball rate) in 2018. Compounded with the likely negative regression in punchouts, Cashner is a prime pitcher to target for stacking purposes.

Rhys Hoskins ($3,900) is always in play for the Philadelphia Phillies. His strikeout rate has spiked this season, but he is still hitting the ball in the air (52.4% fly-ball rate) and with authority (37.8% hard-hit rate). Carlos Santana's ($3,900) plate discipline metrics are fantastic as usual, and now may be a good time to buy-low on a guy with a 49.6% fly-ball rate and 38.5% hard-hit rate but just a .183 batting average on balls in play. Odubel Herrera ($3,800) has a career 118 wRC+ against right-handed pitching.

If he cracks the lineup, Nick Williams ($2,400) is in play at such a low cost and with a solid 35.4% career hard-hit rate against right-handed pitching. Using him in a Phillies stack can really unlock the rest of your lineup because of how cheap he is.
