FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Friday 4/27/18

Expected to return from the disabled list, Xander Bogaerts is practically a must-play at minimum salary. Who else should you consider rostering on tonight's main slate?

We're finishing off the work week with 14 games on the main slate, and it's one that definitely leans on the pitching side. As of this writing, only one team has an implied team total above 5.00, which is unusual for such a large menu of contests. And go figure that team is the Houston Astros against a guy who just threw a no-hitter in Sean Manaea. Talk about not getting any respect!

There are a few stud arms that stand out at the top, but with the sheer number of talented pitchers going, there will be plenty of room to get creative in tournaments if you're in a contrarian mood.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Jacob deGrom ($10,600 on FanDuel): Oftentimes the path of least resistance is the best course of action in DFS, and that's what we have in Jacob deGrom's spot against the San Diego Padres. The Padres have the dubious honor of holding the highest strikeout rate in the league (28.0%), and as you might expect, their implied team total sits at just 3.16. Meanwhile, deGrom is off to a stellar start, owning a 2.79 SIERA, 31.5% strikeout rate, and 6.3% walk rate in five outings. The batted-ball numbers are looking quite pretty as well, seeing improvements in both ground-ball rate (48.7%) and hard-hit rate (23.1%). The competition is steep on this pitcher-rich slate, but between deGrom's excellent marks and the soft opposition, he's looking like tonight's safest bet.
