4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 4/18/18

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Atlanta Braves

Coming off a 72-win season, the Atlanta Braves are off to a surprising 9-7 start and up to 11th in our latest Power Rankings. Tonight, they'll look to continue that momentum against NL East rival Philadelphia and right-handed starter Vincent Velasquez.

There's never been a question about the young righty's stuff. Over 72 innings pitched last season, Velasquez notched a 21.6% strikeout rate, and for his career, he owns a 10.4% swinging-strike rate. Yup, that will play.

Where the Phillies' starter often finds himself in troublesome spots is with his inconsistent command (10.8% walk rate in 2017). His susceptibility to big innings stems from that and a pile of hard contact, as he was blasted for a 38.1% hard-hit rate and 34.8% fly-ball rate last season. Same-sided bats gave him issues, too, as they rocked him for a .503 slugging percentage, 40.5% hard-hit rate, and 40.0% fly-ball rate.

Catcher Kurt Suzuki ($2,700) had started four straight contests before getting a rest yesterday, and he should be back behind the dish tonight. A year ago, Suzuki teed off for 19 home runs, including 12 against same-sided arms, bolstered by a 45.2% fly-ball rate.

Dansby Swanson ($3,600) struggled through a very rough 2017, recording only a .276 weighted on-base average (wOBA), but he may have put some of those past struggles behind him. Over 57 plate appearances this season, the shortstop has knocked righties for a .387 wOBA with 6 doubles in 57 plate appearances.

It would be remiss to discuss a Braves stack without mentioning how good Freddie Freeman ($4,600) was in 2017 against right-handed pitching. Last season, Freeman tattooed his way to a .277 isolated power (ISO), 39.1% hard-hit rate, and 40.0% fly-ball rate.

Finally, consider young stud Ozzie Albies ($4,500) who's swinging a pretty hot bat himself:

Over 244 plate appearances last year, the switch-hitting Albies put up a strong 43.7% fly-ball rate against right-handers, and he can fill your second base or utility spot nicely. After all, he's hitting .310 with a .427 wOBA and .352 ISO so far in 2018.
