4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 9/22/17
The A's have a strong matchup on tap with Texas righty Nick Martinez. Will they be the best stacking option for Friday's MLB DFS slate?

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks.

Oakland Athletics

The Athletics have been one of the best teams in baseball against right-handed pitching this year, ranking sixth in team wOBA (.331). They will look to add to that impressive resume at home against Nick Martinez.

Martinez has thrown 100 1/3 innings this year en route to recording a 5.11 SIERA and 13.8% strikeout rate while allowing an absurd 2.15 home runs per nine innings pitched. Both sides of the plate have had success against him, too -- lefties are posting a .357 wOBA and .503 slugging percentage while righties own a .346 wOBA and .525 slugging percentage.

To start, we will begin with one lefty that is absolutely crushing the ball right now in Matt Olson.

Olson is an expensive asset at $4,200, but with the platoon advantage, he has blasted his way to a 1.077 OPS, a .431 ISO, and a .437 wOBA.

It is probably an either-or conversation if Olson is in the mix, but Khris Davis ($4,000) loves facing same-sided arms, posting a .371 wOBA, 39.6% hard-hit rate and 42.4% fly-ball rate against them this year. If you can afford to roster Olson and Davis, by all means do it.

To try and afford either one of those mashers, check out some cheaper options in Matt Chapman ($2,600) and Joey Wendle ($2,000). Chapman has been strong in this situation, rocking a 37.0% hard-hit rate and 48.0% fly-ball rate. Wendle, priced at the site minimum, has only 13 plate appearances versus righties this year, but has turned it into a 163 wRC+.
