MLB Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 5/22/17

Zack Greinke is at home for a matchup with the Chicago White Sox, helping him check in as the top pitcher on the board. Which other players should we target on Monday?

The beauty of daily fantasy baseball is that the top targets are different each and every day. Whether it's the right-handed catcher who destroys left-handed pitching or the mid-range hurler facing a depleted lineup, you're not going to find yourself using the same assets time after time.

While this breaks up the monotony, it can make it hard to decide which players are primed to succeed on a given day. We can help bridge that gap.

In addition to our custom optimal lineups, you can check out our batting and pitching heat maps, which show the pieces in the best spot to succeed on that slate. Put on the finishing touches with our games and lineups page to see who's hitting where and what the weather looks like, and you'll have yourself a snazzy looking team to put up some big point totals. We've also got our Solo Shot Podcast, which breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day. Here's today's episode.

If you need help getting started on that trek, here are some of the top options on the board today.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Zack Greinke ($10,300 on FanDuel): If you can get an ace pitcher at home in a great matchup, you take that, and you thank the DFS deities for presenting you with such a blessed opportunity. That's the scenario for Zack Greinke today. He's spewing filthiness this year with a 3.04 SIERA, 28.6% strikeout rate, and 4.8% walk rate. He makes all of it look even sweeter when you peep his 13.2% swinging-strike rate. Those are the marks of a bona fide elite pitcher, and the Chicago White Sox are far from an elite offense. They rank 24th or worse against righties in wRC+, strikeout rate, walk rate, and hard-hit rate, the four main categories we look at when assessing a pitcher's matchup. That's all before we factor in that they won't have a designated hitter in Arizona because it's a National League park. We don't get things to mesh this nicely often, so take advantage and plug Greinke into your lineups.
