4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 8/5/16
Third base is loaded tonight, which should keep Kyle Seager underowned. Who else will fly under-the-radar?

Justin Verlander, P, Detroit Tigers

FanDuel Price: $9,900

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

There are several appealing cheap plays at pitcher on tonight's slate, as well as some appealing top options, such as Jon Lester and Noah Syndergaard. While Justin Verlander has the lowest implied opponent total of the three, he'll also be facing Syndergaard, which is always a daunting task. Of the expensive options, Lester will likely be the most popular, while Verlander and Syndergaard will compete for ownership after him.

Why You Should Use Him:

Verlander leads all starting pitchers in WAR over the past month, and his stats show that he has been downright filthy during that span. Since July 2, Verlander has a 1.69 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 10.13 strikeouts per nine innings, along with a 13.1 percent swinging-strike rate.

He'll look to keep up his dominant form in tonight's matchup against the Mets, who rank 21st in wOBA against righties and 9th in strikeout rate this year.

The Mets are projected for just 3.6 runs against Verlander, which is the fourth-fewest on the slate. He also is projected to be in position to pick up a win, as his Tigers are projected for 3.9 runs against Syndergaard.

Verlander is an excellent play in any format, and you might be able to get him at lower ownership due to the depth of the pitcher position tonight.
