4 FanDuel MLB Studs to Target on 8/4/16
Drew Pomeranz takes on Seattle at pitcher-friendly Safeco Field. What other high-priced players are worth checking out?

Nathan Eovaldi, P, New York Yankees

FanDuel Price: $7,100

I told you things get dicey after Pomeranz. Nathan Eovaldi, a righty, is the slate's third-ranked pitcher for his home matchup with the New York Mets.

While Yankee Stadium, which checks in second in home run factor, is scary, Eovaldi has some things going for him. The dude has a big-time fastball that averages 94.4 miles per hour. That's helped him record a 9.1% swinging-strike rate, which tells us his modest 18.7% strikeout rate should be a touch higher.

Ostensibly, his 50.6% ground-ball rate should help him limit damage, but Eovaldi has been getting burnt by the long ball. His 32.7% hard-hit rate and 31.3% fly-ball rate aren't significantly above his career averages, but his 18.8% home-run-per-fly-ball ratio is more than double his career average of 8.9%. Some of that is Yankee Stadium, but it's also a lot of bad luck as his home-run-to-fly-ball ratio away from home is 17.2%.

Against righties, the Mets rank 21st in wOBA (.307) and 22nd in strikeout rate (22.3%). Eovaldi is by no means a surefire option, but in a muddy second tier under Pomeranz, he's right at the top.
