He has an especially good matchup tonight against Padres' lefty Christian Friedrich.

Friedrich hasn't inspired much confidence over his career, posting a 4.31 SIERA, and this season's 4.93 SIERA is a career-worst clip. He has been especially bad against right-handed hitters, allowing a .338 wOBA with an ugly 5.34 xFIP. Phillips is likely to give him some trouble tonight.
