Prince Fielder, 1B, Texas Rangers

Prince Fielder hasn't had an impressive start to the season, but he hasn't been playing quite as poorly as his numbers might show. His .229 BABIP and 4.5% home-run-to-fly-ball ratio are both on pace to be far and away the lowest marks of his career. That is suppressing his numbers in a big way, but it also gives us a lot of reason to be optimistic that he can start producing again.

He's up against Juan Nicasio tonight, who is sporting a 4.46 ERA on the season and boasts a career 4.10 SIERA. Left-handed hitters have given Nicasio a lot of trouble throughout his career as he has allowed them to post a .366 wOBA while recording a 4.38 xFIP against southpaws.

While Fielder's career averages don't mean too much right now -- he's not the hitter he once was in his prime -- they do show that he fares much better against right-handed pitching (with a .398 wOBA and .247 ISO, compared to a .341 wOBA and .181 ISO against lefties). This matchup with Nicasio puts him in a great spot tonight.
