4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 5/19/16
Ervin Santana has struggled to retire left-handed batters the past two years, and that puts Justin Smoak in position to continue his hot start to the season.

Carlos Santana, 1B, Cleveland Indians

FanDuel Price: $3,000

You'll want to check out a bunch of the Cleveland Indians' sticks today, but their leadoff batter, Carlos Santana, is a screaming value.

Santana has been lighting up right-handed pitchers with a 39.2% hard-hit rate and 54.4% fly-ball rate through his first 116 plate appearances in 2016. Usually, when you see numbers like that, they'll come with an elevated strikeout rate. Not with Santana. Instead, he has more walks than strikeouts with a 14.7% strikeout rate. As long as he's posting numbers like that in a park this hitter-friendly, he's an easy guy to select.

Santana's numbers alone are enough to get us to invest, but he also has a quality matchup. Tim Adleman gets the start for the Cincinnati Reds, and he'll be putting his 4.60 SIERA and 10.5% walk rate up against an offense that ranks ninth in wRC+ against righties. The Reds also have the worst bullpen SIERA in the league, meaning Santana and the Indians should only be able to add to their totals once Adleman gets the hook.
