There are four pitchers on tonight's main slate priced above $9,000, and the least expensive of that bunch, Aaron Nola, is one I am avoiding on this slate.

Now, there are plenty of reasons to roster Nola -- he was a flat out stud in 2018, recording a 2.37 ERA in 212 1/3 innings pitched with a 27.0% strikeout rate. And his opponent tonight, the New York Mets, are striking out at a prodigious 24.7% clip against righties in 2019.

But there are warning signs, here, too. Nola has struggled this year with only an 8.1% swinging-strike rate, and the Mets have held their own with a 10.2% walk rate and 105 wRC+ in this spot.

Paying up for aces is a smart idea, but Nola is one I'd shy away from.
