Melky Cabrera, OF, Pittsburgh Pirates

Price: $2,700

The switch-hitting Melky Cabrera has done his best work against southpaws over the last few seasons.

Going back to the start of the 2016 campaign, he's turned in a .326 wOBA and .136 ISO against righties and a .347 wOBA and .174 ISO versus southpaws.

Even at 34 years old, he showed us some new tricks last year. His fly-ball rate fell slightly (from 29.0% in 2017 to 25.9% in 2018), but his hard-hit rate jumped by over 10 percentage points -- to a career-best 39.2%. That came with a career-low 11.1% soft-hit rate.

Melky will be up against Chicago Cubs southpaw Jose Quintana, and while Quintana's strikeout stuff can be intimidating, he still makes for a fine fantasy matchup. His 4.37 SIERA through two starts this year is right in line with his 4.39 SIERA from 32 games in 2018. While we can't expect his 15.4% walk rate to hold up, the fact Quintana is already struggling in that area isn't a good sign after he posted a career-high 9.2% walk rate in 2018.

It looks like we'll get some wind blowing out to left at Wrigley Field tonight, making this a hitter-friendly spot. That gives this game a 10.0-run over/under, and the Pirates boast the slate's third-highest implied total.
