5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 4/8/19
Mark Reynolds makes for an inexpensive way to get exposure to the Rockies' high implied total at Coors Field tonight. Which other cost-effective hitters should be in your lineup on Monday?

Chris Davis, 1B, Baltimore Orioles

Price: $2,000

Playing Chris Davis will feel bad -- there's no way around that. He has made 27 plate appearances this season and has been held without a hit, walking four times and striking out 13 times. This is the ultimate test in fading small sample sizes, though.

His 48.1% strikeout rate is not going to hold up. Yes, he struck out on 36.8% of his plate appearances last year, but his swinging-strike rate is actually down to 12.9% right now -- which is on pace to be his lowest since 2010. He also hasn't made any soft contact, with a 40.0% hard-hit rate and 0.0% soft-hit rate as well as a 50.0% fly-ball rate. A .000 BABIP is obviously never going to be sustainable, but even last year's .237 BABIP is unlikely to hold up while he's making decent contact.

In 753 plate appearances since the start of the 2017 season, Davis has turned in a 40.3% hard-hit rate, 10.7% soft-hit rate and 41.1% fly-ball rate against right-handed pitching. That has translated to an ugly .283 wOBA -- but with only a .265 BABIP, suggesting plenty of room for regression. He's also still shown some power upside, with a .181 ISO in that sample.

Taking on the home run-prone Marco Estrada, Davis has some legitimate homer upside, and you're getting for at the stone-minimum price.
