The Chicago Cubs have a reasonable 4.55 implied total tonight as they take on right-hander Ivan Nova and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Nova has made 28 starts this year, posting a weak 4.40 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA), which puts him on pace for his third time with a mark of 4.40 or worse in the last four seasons. He has been especially bad against left-handed bats this year, allowing a .345 wOBA with a brutal 5.10 xFIP.

Jason Heyward isn't an especially dangerous hitter, with a .319 wOBA against right-handed pitching. He's only priced $300 above the minimum, though, and Nova's brutal numbers against left-handed bats are more than enough to make Hayward a viable punt play tonight.
