Rhys Hoskins, OF, Philadelphia Phillies

FanDuel Price: $4,200

Rhys Hoskins was recommended in this space yesterday, and as it turned out, he was owned in only 4.4% of FanDuel lineups on Monday. Although the Philadelphia Phillies' offense didn't do much as a whole, Hoskins came through with a solo shot off Jon Gray for his 33rd dinger of the season.

While Hoskins' ownership should see a natural bump against Chad Bettis, the Colorado Rockies will again be the more popular Coors Field side with a massive 6.06 implied total against Vince Velasquez tonight, giving us another opportunity to use a potentially lower-owned Hoskins. Bettis doesn't exactly have scary numbers, with a 4.95 SIERA, 15.5% strikeout rate and 9.3% walk rate, and while his 49.0% ground-ball rate should theoretically limit the long ball, he's allowed 1.63 home runs per nine innings at Coors Field this year.

Bettis has shown reverse-splits throughout his career, and sure enough, against lefty bats in 2018, his ground-ball rate jumps to 56.9% with a quality 28.7% hard-hit rate. That said, he's still pitching to a 4.81 FIP and while allowing a .333 expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA) to that side, so that's hardly enough to scare us off Hoskins. Furthermore, Hoskins is putting up a 51.8% fly-ball rate, so we shouldn't be as concerned about Bettis' high ground-ball rate.

With a .361 wOBA and .249 ISO for the season, Hoskins is one of the Phillies' better bets to do damage tonight, and a stack is again in play for a relatively inexpensive lineup.
