On paper, Jose Berrios would seem to be in a great spot against the lowly Kansas City Royals tonight. But a deeper dive shows that may not be the case.

Over his last eight starts, the Minnesota Twins righty has been pretty mediocre, recording a 4.72 xFIP and 5.03 ERA over 39 1/3 innings pitched, where he has won only one game. Part of Berrios' struggles stem from his command, as he's posted a 11.5% walk rate in this split.

And over the last two weeks, the Royals have been sneaky hot at the dish, blasting their way to a .331 team weighted on-base average (wOBA), sixth-best in the league over that time frame. All of this adds up to make it better to look elsewhere at pitcher tonight.
