Luis Severino is in the midst of what might be the best season of his Major League career, with personal bests in both SIERA (3.21) and walk rate (5.9%) over 28 games. His 28.7% strikeout rate is also within 1% of his career-high, and comes with a deadly 12.3% swinging-strike rate.

It doesn't get much better than Severino's numbers tonight, either, as he ranks second in both SIERA and strikeout rate among starters on the main slate.

His matchup is certainly a concern, as the Oakland Athletics do boast a worrying 109 wRC+ against right-handed pitching on the season. Their strikeout rate does sit in the middle of the pack though (21.8%), and their 3.40 implied total is among the day's lowest.

We're thin on top-end pitching options, but even in this tough matchup, there's a lot to like about Severino.
