Well, we have to be open to making an exception for German Marquez, who has logged a quality start in 10 of the last 11 games, with a pristine 2.53 ERA, 2.49 FIP, 31.0% strikeout rate, and 5.2% walk rate over that span. The San Francisco Giants aren't the type of the team to derail a guy who's rolling like this, with a mere 87 wRC+ and 24.0% strikeout rate against righties, and their 4.06 implied team total is incredibly low for Coors Field.

A $9,500 price tag is far from ideal, but that should only further limit ownership, and Marquez is still a sizable discount off Verlander. It's probably wise to not expect another 61-point masterpiece like he pulled off against the San Diego Padres on the road last week, but another strong performance should be in the cards.
