We have quite the cast of hurlers headlining tonight's slate, with big names like Corey Kluber and James Paxton, along with potential star-in-the-making Ross Stripling. Charlie Morton deserves to be in the same conversation, but figures to go lower-owned due to some recent poor outings, and a mediocre matchup against the Kansas City Royals.

The Royals own a league-best 17.7% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Add in some hitter-friendly, double-digit winds at Kauffman Stadium, and it's not exactly an ideal scenario for Morton.

But the Royals still have a modest 3.76 implied team total, and Morton has the 50.8% ground-ball rate to help combat the effects of the wind. At the end of the day, his 3.23 SIERA and 30.2% strikeout rate are as potent as the aforementioned trio, and he's just as capable of putting up a massive point total. Don't let a couple of bad outings keep you away from using him as a contrarian option in tournaments.
