Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, Arizona Diamondbacks

FanDuel Price: $4,200

No doubt, Paul Goldschmidt has disappointed this season, and even if we believe the Chase Field humidor is partially to blame, that can't explain his uncharacteristic 29.6% strikeout rate. So particularly with the Arizona Diamondbacks getting a minuscule 3.74 implied team total against lefty Derek Holland, even on a small slate, Goldschmidt probably won't garner as much attention as the other high-priced bats on the board.

But despite the low implied team total, Goldschmidt has a solid matchup against Holland, who's posted a lackluster 4.70 SIERA, 19.4% strikeout rate, and 9.7% walk rate this season. Holland has really struggled versus right-handed hitters the last few years, and that's no different in 2018 as he's allowed a .358 wOBA and 43.9% hard-hit rate this year.

Pitcher-friendly AT&T Park does put a damper on things and explains the low implied total, but considering Goldschmidt's massive career numbers versus lefties, we shouldn't be deterred from using him against such a weak hurler. When Goldschmidt has the platoon advantage, he holds a career .434 wOBA and .277 ISO, and even with this year's struggles, he's still producing a 48.7% hard-hit rate off lefties. He's also hit two home runs in the last four games, so perhaps he's starting to turn the corner from whatever has caused his slow start.
