Greg Bird, 1B, New York Yankees

The last time the New York Yankees saw a righty, Greg Bird was slotted third in the lineup. Couple that with the Yankees sporting a massive -- and slate-best -- 5.87 implied team total against Andrew Cashner, and Bird should be a lock for a big night, right?

Eh, maybe not.

Against righties since the beginning of last year (153 plate appearances), Bird sports a mediocre .287 weighted on-base average (wOBA) and 26.8% strikeout rate.

Over the same timeframe, Cashner does own an ugly 5.58 xFIP against lefties, but he has done a solid job in limiting hard-hit balls in the split with a hard-hit rate to 29.9%.

Bird could be tantalizing at a low price point, and the Yankees will be a popular stacking option, but it may be worth pivoting elsewhere at first base tonight.
