Logan Morrison has been the victim of a low batting average on balls in play (BABIP) this season. That has held his production down, but it does leave plenty of room for optimism as we move forward.

BABIP is prone to a ton of variance in the short- and mid-term, and with a mark of .268 in 2017 with a career-average of .270, Morrison is not likely to continue posting a .225 average moving forward. That is especially true when you consider his 35.3% hard-hit rate sits ahead of his 32.9% career-average.

He's hitting right-handed pitchers especially well, with a 36.6% hard-hit rate and 45.7% fly-ball rate, positioning him well tonight against Brad Keller and the Kansas City Royals. Keller will be making his first Major League start after making 21 relief appearances so far in his rookie season. His production has looked good, but moving to a starting role is a big difference, and he's already sporting a worrying 4.85 xFIP against left-handed bats.
