3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/30/18
Shohei Ohtani has been a treat to watch, but he draws a tough matchup with the Tigers tonight. Which other players should we be avoiding?

Shohei Ohtani, SP, Los Angeles Angels

FanDuel Price: $9,000

Shohei Ohtani has been a pleasure to watch in his two-way role, and the fact that he is just 23 years old truly boggles the mind. However, because of how young he is, the Los Angeles Angels have kept a firm leash on their prized investment, as Ohtani has only thrown 100 or more pitches twice this season. For comparison's sake, the only two times Max Scherzer hasn't reached triple-digits in the pitch count he reached 99 pitches. And a shorter leash means fewer innings and fewer opportunities to accrue fantasy points.

The matchup against the Detroit Tigers isn't as easy as it may appear either. Detroit ranks top-10 in hard-hit rate against right-handed pitching with a 36.5% rate. They are also one of the 10 best teams in baseball in avoiding strikeouts against right-handed pitching, as they only do so at a 20.7% clip.

In, at best, a mediocre matchup, and with a capped ceiling due to pitch count concerns, Ohtani is a tough sell as the third-most expensive pitcher on the slate.
