Didi Gregorius, SS, New York Yankees

Didi Gregorius has had an excellent season so far, but most of his damage has come against right-handed pitching. In fact, he has struggled against southpaws throughout his career, and that platoon split is just as pronounced (albeit more productive) in 2018.

Throughout his career, he has a 77 wRC+ against left-handed pitching compared to a 103 mark against right-handers. In 2018, this is a 102 mark against southpaws compared to 130 against right-handed pitching. Clearly, we want to target Gregorius against right-handers.

Andrew Heaney, tonight's lefty starter, has been exceptionally tough on left-handed batters in his career, holding them to a .269 wOBA. Gregorius is a great hitter against right-handed pitching, but it's best to look for another shortstop when he's facing a lefty as he is tonight.
