3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on 5/14/18
Carlos Carrasco is in a plum spot against the Tigers. Which other high-priced players are worth paying up for?

J.D. Martinez, OF, Boston Red Sox

Price; $4,300

J.D. Martinez against a southpaw is nearly always going to make for a great spot to target him in DFS.

His sample size in 2018 is still tiny (36 plate appearances), but he has crushed left-handed pitchers for a 50.0% hard-hit rate with only a 4.6% soft-hit rate. Expanding our view back to 2017 (146 plate appearances), he has rocked lefties for an absurd .495 wOBA and .414 isolated slugging (ISO) on a 54.4% hard-hit rate, 7.8% soft-hit rate and 43.3% fly-ball rate.

Oakland southpaw Sean Manaea doesn't make for a very intimidating matchup, either. Manaea is off to a good start to 2018, but he is still allowing a big 41.7% hard-hit rate to right-handed hitters. A year ago, right-handed bats tagged Manaea for a .347 wOBA on a 36.9% hard-hit rate, and even with Manaea's strong start to the year, we can feel safe targeting Martinez.
