5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 5/8/18
Jonathan Schoop crushes southpaws and draws a plus matchup against Danny Duffy and the Royals tonight. What other cost-effective hitters should you target on Tuesday?

Jonathan Schoop, 2B, Baltimore Orioles

Price: $2,600

Kansas City Royals southpaw Danny Duffy has had a rough start to 2018. Over seven outings, his skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) sits at 4.63, which is on pace to tie his career-worst for a season in which he's pitched at least 30 innings. He's also giving up a career-high 41.0% hard-hit rate and forcing a career-low 13.9% soft-hit rate. He has been especially bad against right-handed hitters, allowing a heinous .399 wOBA on a 41.1% hard-hit and 43.9% fly-ball rate.

As he makes his way back from a near month-long absence, Jonathan Schoop shouldn't have too much trouble taking advantage of this matchup. He's off to a slow start to 2018, but part of that is because he has only made 15 plate appearances against southpaws (notching an excellent .389 in that sample). Expanding our view back to the start of the 2017 season, Schoop has made 181 plate appearances against lefties, turning a 39.3% hard-hit rate into a stellar .396 wOBA and .270 ISO.

Combining his production and matchup tonight, Schoop is massively underpriced, and he offers the day's best obvious value.
