Charlie Morton, P, Houston Astros

Price: $9,200

Both high-priced pitchers on Monday's slate (Charlie Morton and Zack Greinke) draw tough matchups, but Morton stands out as the better play of the two.

The Houston Astros are -151 favorites (compared to -136 for the Diamondbacks), and the New York Yankees have a 3.86 implied total (versus 4.00 for the Dodgers). Making Morton's matchup even more fantasy friendly is the fact the Yanks' big boppers -- Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge -- are righties, and Morton has been death to right-handers in his career, limiting them to a lowly .303 wOBA, 22.6% fly-ball rate and 23.3% hard-hit rate.

Morton is off to a tremendous start to the season, sporting a 3.19 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) through five games as well as a 29.4% strikeout rate that is on pace to be a career-high mark. His strikeout rate has sat north of 26.0% in each of the last two seasons, and with his swinging-strike rate up to 14.2% to open 2018, his increase in strikeouts appears to be legit.

Even though he's great versus righties, Morton doesn't have all that safe of a floor against the monster bats in the Yankees' offense, but you're not getting a good floor from any high-priced pitching option tonight, and Morton's strikeout upside gives him a great ceiling.
