3 Under-the-Radar MLB FanDuel Plays for 4/27/18

Luis Castillo's sophomore campaign has gotten off to a rocky start with a 6.51 ERA through his first five outings. A 4.28 SIERA suggests he hasn't been quite as bad as the bloated ERA, but he also has a disappointing 20.0% strikeout rate and the velocity hasn't quite reached last year's levels.

But if there's one glimmer of hope, it's a 14.1% swinging-strike rate, indicating those punchouts may still be hiding in there somewhere. Castillo posted an eight-strikeout game against the Milwaukee Brewers a couple starts ago, which is also encouraging.

Let's not forget the upside he showed in 2017, with a 3.63 SIERA, 27.3% strikeout rate, and 58.8% ground-ball rate. He gets a reasonable matchup against the Minnesota Twins, who have struck out at 24.8% clip as a team this season, and are fairly weak in the bottom half of the order.

There a lot of elite arms on the board, so Castillo will almost certainly go unowned in most lineups. The early returns show the risk, but there could be sneaky potential here at a low cost.
