Bryce Harper, OF, Washington Nationals

FanDuel Price: $4,700

Bryce Harper is one of the best hitters in baseball, and he could easily blast a pair of home runs and make this avoid call look silly. But at the price tag, he isn't worth paying up for in this sneaky tough matchup against Zack Godley,

Godley had a breakthrough season in 2017, posting a 3.67 SIERA with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He's still a relatively young pitcher (he turned 28 just six days ago), but he has essentially duplicated his numbers to this point in 2018, except with even fewer fly-balls and less hard-contact.

Despite being a right-handed pitcher, Godley has been tough on left-handed batters in his career. While this doesn't necessarily stick out in the form of a sparkling wOBA (though a .303 career wOBA certainly isn't bad), it is certainly evident from his contact management. For his career, Godley has held left-handed batters to just a 21.5% fly-ball rate and 28.5% hard-hit rate.

In his breakout 2017, it was even tougher for left-handed batters to get the ball in the air against Godley, as they managed just a 19.6% fly-ball rate a year ago. With few opportunities to get balls in the air, Harper's upside isn't enough to warrant the high cost.
