Shohei Ohtani, P, Los Angeles Angels

FanDuel Price: $9,000

We have some nice talent available at pitcher this evening, but all of them come with concerns. Charlie Morton gets a hard matchup with the Los Angeles Angels, Kenta Maeda is never a sure bet to go 6 innings, Robbie Ray has a scary 14.4% walk rate, and Luke Weaver's strikeouts are down.

Therefore, despite facing an unforgiving lineup in the Houston Astros, Shohei Ohtani is worth your time in tournaments. The Astros have one of the toughest offenses in the majors, and their 4.31 implied team total is much higher than we like to see from an opposing lineup. But that should only push ownership away from Ohtani on a night when he's fully capable of emerging as Tuesday's top arm.

There's no denying that the numbers Ohtani has produced thus far are worthy of all the hype, with a 2.77 SIERA, 33.3% strikeout rate, and 7.0% walk rate. Of course, it comes with the usual sample-size caveat -- his two good starts came against the same team after all -- and he's had luck on his side with a .188 BABIP. Even so, an 18.1% swinging-strike rate implies that the punchouts are legit.

With no clear-cut top pitching option, betting on Ohtani's talent in a tough matchup could pay big dividends in tournaments as a contrarian play.
