Rhys Hoskins, OF, Philadelphia Phillies

FanDuel Price: $4,800

Jake Faria had a solid rookie season in 2017, but things haven't gone quite as smoothly in 2018. Coming off a shaky spring in which he posted 10 walks to 12 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings, those struggles have carried over into the regular season, with Faria showing a 8.42 SIERA through two starts. Grant it, getting lit up twice by the Boston Red Sox can be forgiven, but issuing eight walks through 5 2/3 innings is hardly a good look, and he's displayed just a 3.2% swinging-strike rate.

Should the sophomore slump continue on Friday, that puts the heavy-hitting Rhys Hoskins in an intriguing spot as a contrarian play. The Philadelphia Phillies are unlikely to garner much attention in Tropicana Field, and Hoskins is the third-most expensive hitter on the slate, so most will forgo him for someone like Mike Trout. Still, Hoskins is doing a good job of proving last year was no fluke, posting a .333 isolated power (ISO) while hitting a massive number of fly-balls at a 65.2% clip. The spot may not be as strong as some of the other high-priced sluggers, but the ceiling remains strong against a struggling young pitcher.
