3 Under-the-Radar MLB FanDuel Plays for 4/12/18

Charlie Blackmon has missed the past couple games with a quad issue, but if he's back in the lineup on Thursday, he's unlikely to see much attention in a lefty-lefty spot against Gio Gonzalez.

Following Berrios, Gonzalez is another pitcher likely to draw high ownership, and, in general, the Colorado Rockies are not an ideal play away from Coors Field. But if you've ever rostered Gonzalez, you know that no matter how good he looks one day, a potential dud is always right around the corner. He posted a lackluster 9.6% walk rate in 2017, and although he managed a 2.96 ERA, a .258 BABIP and 4.41 SIERA indicates that maybe he wasn't so hot after all.

Blackmon isn't nearly as fun on the road, but all four of his home runs have come away from Coors this season, so we know he's still capable of doing damage. The matchup against a southpaw isn't ideal, but if we get the bad version of Gonzalez tonight, he'll be sent to the showers early, freeing Blackmon of the matchup. Since 2016, his road numbers against righties still sit at a robust .385 wOBA and .258 isolated power (ISO), which he could put to good use against a majoirty of the arms in the Washington Nationals bullpen.
