Joey Votto, 1B, Cincinnati Reds

FanDuel Price: $3,800

Nick Pivetta is not your average right-handed pitcher. It's not that he's great, but Pivetta is unique as a right-handed pitcher in that he is far more successful against left-handed batters than right-handed batters. For his career, Pivetta allows a .308 wOBA, 29.1% hard-hit rate, and 33.7% fly-ball rate to lefties. At the same time, he strikes out left-handed hitters at a strong 24.8% clip.

Joey Votto is a good enough hitter to overcome this matchup, but he is likely to be overowned against a relatively unknown right-handed pitcher. Moreover, with key starters such as Eugenio Suarez and Scott Schebler on the disabled list, the Cincinnati Reds' lineup should struggle as a whole. That will minimize Votto's potential to score and drive in runs, as well as potentially limiting his plate appearances.

Against a right-handed pitcher that has proven effective against left-handed batters, Votto isn't worth paying up for in this spot.
