Jorge Soler, OF, Kansas City Royals

FanDuel Price: $2,200

After multiple failed stints as a major leaguer, the shine has faded on former top prospect Jorge Soler.

But Soler is still just 26 years old, and he showed some intriguing power numbers in Triple-A last season, posting a .408 wOBA and .297 isolated power (ISO) on his way to 24 dingers over just 327 plate appearances. Of course, he also once again flopped in the majors, submitting a .226 wOBA over 110 plate appearances while striking out at a 32.7% clip.

Still, the power was back on display this spring, with Soler knocking 6 out of the park in 61 at-bats. It came with the standard helping of punchouts (18), but that didn't deter folks from giving him the "post-hype" sleeper label in deep league season-long drafts.

While we must always take spring stats with a grain of salt, an Opening Day spot against James Shields sure looks like a great time to test the waters. Shields is a little more respectable against righties like Soler, but the fact is he's allowed home runs in bunches lately. Normally we expect a pitcher's home-run-to-fly-ball rate (HR/FB) to regress to around league average over time -- with the influx of homers, that league average has been closer to 13% the past couple years -- but in Shield's case, that number has exceeded 17% for three straight seasons. That doesn't exactly sound like a case of bad luck.

Soler could disappoint us once again, but as cheap one-off or part of a Kansas City Royals stack, he's worth a look to see if his power translates this time around.
