Having to decide between Chris Sale and Robbie Ray tonight is a lot like what we were dealing with last Wednesday.

Ray has a great matchup against the San Francisco Giants, who rank 29th in wRC+ against southpaws, and while his 33.2% strikeout rate is certainly nasty, Sale once again has the edge here.

The Boston Red Sox ace has been absolutely stellar this season, leading all qualifying pitchers with both his 2.55 SIERA and a 36.3% strikeout rate.

He has double-digit strikeouts in 18 of his 31 starts and he's coming off a gem against the Baltimore Orioles, where he went eight scoreless while fanning 13.

He also has an above-average fantasy matchup tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays, whose 94 wRC+ against lefties ranks 18th in the majors. Their 21.4% strikeout rate is the 14th-highest, so it shouldn't be surprising that numberFIre's models project Sale as the day's top-scoring fantasy pitcher.
