Masahiro Tanaka has a solid 3.63 SIERA on the season and his ability to rack up strikeouts makes him a strong fantasy option.

He ranks in the top 20 among qualifying pitchers in both strikeout rate (24.6%) and swinging-strike rate (15.0%). He's been playing particularly well recently, with his strikeout rate jumping to 26.4% with an absurd 17.2% swinging-strike rate over his last four starts.

The Toronto Blue Jays have struggled with right-handed pitching this season, ranking 24rd with an 89 wRC+, and they currently have a weak 3.79 implied total heading into Friday's game.

Their strikeout rate (21.1%) also ranks in the middle of the pack, giving Tanaka a strong combination of floor and upside today.
