Earlier this season, Alex Wood was an elite play on days he pitched, reaching a point where he was pretty much a cash game staple.

That version of Wood is long gone. His velocity has steadily declined over the course of the season, and it's reached the point where he just can't garner the whiffs he was getting before. Since the All-Star break he's mustered a pedestrian 4.59 SIERA and 17.0% strikeout rate.

There simply isn't much upside in this arm anymore, and Wood doesn't have a prayer of keeping up with the likes of Chris Sale, Robbie Ray, and Luis Severino.
