As we saw last night with Danny Salazar, using pitchers in their first start off the disabled list is often a dicey proposition, especially when it's a case like Salazar, where he wasn't expected to go deep into the game to begin with.

We may have a similar situation with Lance McCullers, who only threw 60 pitches in his last rehab start. Therefore, it's hard to expect McCullers to go far in this game, particularly when the Houston Astros have more longterm goals in mind. Also, it wasn't like he was lighting it up before he hit the disabled list over a month ago, sputtering through four July starts with a 4.66 SIERA and 15.0% strikeout rate.

The price on this electric arm is enticing, but a wait-and-see approach is warranted here.
