Why He Will Go Overlooked:
There are a number of awesome pitching options on today's six-game slate, including Chris Sale, Jake Arrieta, Jose Berrios, Carlos Martinez, Dallas Keuchel, and Stephen Strasburg, all of whom are priced over $9,000 and should see the majority of ownership.
One overlooked option could be Trevor Bauer of the Cleveland Indians, who's recorded a 4.50 ERA over 134.0 innings pitched this season, and has a brutal matchup against the Boston Red Sox.
Why You Should Use Him:
A traditional metric like earned run average is particularly misleading for a pitcher like Bauer, who's pitched far better than his ERA would suggest.
Taking a look at SIERA, Bauer's recorded a very strong mark of 3.87, all while wiping out 25.8% of batters over those innings pitched via the strikeout.
In the month of August, Bauer has been absolutely brilliant -- he's recorded a 3.16 xFIP and he's upped that strikeout to rate 27.8%.
He'll have a tough order in a strong Boston lineup (27th in strikeout rate against righties with 19.4%), but Bauer presents some nice mid-range value.
