Alex Wood seems to have his groove back.

After a few underwhelming games in late July and early August, his strikeout potential has come back in a big way over his last couple starts -- which includes swinging-strike rates of 14.8% and 15.2% -- bringing his season average to a strong 12.6% to go with his 3.31 SIERA and 26.1% strikeout rate.

His matchup isn't anything special, with the Pittsburgh Pirates striking out against southpaws at a below-average rate, but they do also have a weak 93 wRC+ in this situation, and their 3.87 implied total is Monday's second-lowest mark. Wood's strikeout numbers are enough to leave him offering huge potential, even against the Pirates.
