4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 7/26/17
Mike Trout is the best baseball player our planet has to offer, but he has a brutal matchup against Carlos Carrasco, a dominant pitcher who excels against righties.

Gio Gonzalez, SP, Washington Nationals

FanDuel Price: $8,500

Gio Gonzalez boasts a sparkling 2.83 ERA with an above-average 22.7% strikeout rate, but it's a bit of a mirage.

Let's start with the whiffs. The strikeout rate is his best clip since 2014, but it's backed up by a 9.2% swinging-strike rate that's actually a career-worst mark. He's also issuing too many free passes, posting a 10.2% walk rate, his worst since 2011.

In all, his 4.49 SIERA is much more indicative of his talent level than the pencil-thin ERA, which is exactly what makes him such a sweet sell-high candidate in season-long leagues.

Gonzalez's matchup tonight doesn't help matters as he's taking on the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brew Crew sit 8th in overall wOBA (.328), and they're 10th in wOBA against lefties (.327) thanks to a 35.2% hard-hit rate off southpaws, the 3rd-best mark in baseball.

With studs like Yu Darvish, Carlos Carrasco, Carlos Martinez and Jake Arrieta all in action, there's not much of a reason to roll the dice on Gonzalez in a difficult matchup.
