The price is right on Carlos Gomez, as is the the 4.90 implied team total for the Texas Rangers against Kevin Gausman. But given the aforementioned information on Gausman, even if you don't believe in any resurgence -- and rightfully so -- it's enough to give us pause in targeting him with Texas bats.

In particular, this is the case with righty bats. Over his last five starts, Gausman has a ridiculous 36.8% strikeout rate against them. Although it's possiblly a small sample size fluke, if you got back to the start of last year, he still has a respectable 21.8% strikeout rate and 3.89 xFIP, which are hardly attack-worthy numbers.

Thus, it's especially risky to use someone like Gomez, who has shown some nice power this year, but falls victim to the strikeout at a 32.1% clip.
