3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 7/19/17

Kevin Gausman has pitched better than you might think lately, making Texas bats like Carlos Gomez (pictured) risky on tonight's FanDuel slate.

Jacob deGrom ($11,200) may have underwhelmed the last time he faced the St. Louis Cardinals, but don't let that deter you from going back to the well this time around. The Cardinals have the lowest implied team total on the slate (3.68), and deGrom has put up at least 52 FanDuel points in five of his last six outings. With a 3.49 SIERA and 29.0% strikeout rate, there's little reason to worry about rolling with deGrom as your guy tonight.

Zack Greinke ($10,200) has similar stellar marks this season, making him a worthwhile pivot. Sporting a 3.20 SIERA and 28.7% strikeout rate against the Cincinnati Reds, the only thing holding him back is his home park, as Chase Field remains one of the toughest parks to pitch in not named Coors Field.

Given it's a smaller slate, there's a sizable drop-off after those two, but if you want some salary relief, Drew Pomeranz ($8,400) has enough punchout upside to consider in tournaments, although he doesn't often pitch much past six innings. It's worth noting he's gone over 100 pitches in three straight games.

But the #YOLO play may very well be Kevin Gausman ($7,100) though. Crazy? Maybe, but it might surprise you to learn that over his last five starts he has a 3.18 SIERA and 31.2% strikeout rate, despite getting lit up for eight runs in his last one. It's an incredibly risky play given his poor 2017, but he did put together a 58-point outing against Tampa Bay Rays recently, and it's easy to forget he was a solid pitcher last year.

Alright, enough about tonight's pitching -- let's get to what we came here to do. Here are three hitters to consider avoiding on tonight's FanDuel main slate.
